Joe has tested (03/07) HERDA N/N or CLEAR (click on link to view test results) and cannot ever produce a HERDA afflicted foal! Thanks to Cornell University for their outstanding work in making the test available! With four crosses to Poco Bueno on his sire side and many other crosses to King on top and on bottom we are obviously just thrilled with the results of this test. If you would like any information on Joe's test results or have questions about the HERDA test please do not hesitate to ask.
I hope to add current year pictures very soon! In the meantime, below are several pictures from 2005 and a couple taken while in reining training.
Below is a picture from early Fall 2005 prior to our move from New Mexico:

Below are two pictures taken in 2002 while Joe was in reining training. These pics were taken from a camcorder recording, so I apologize for the quality. See the video below.

Below is another pic from 2005

Joe's sire was never shown AQHA, but he did ride locally and is a multiple ApHC ROM sire and sire of performance horses competing on the Open, PtHA and 4-H circuits and a maternal grandsire of ApHC Performers. Joe is a grandson of Offspot Doc and great grandson of reining winner Be Doctor Jake and he carries some of the finest bloodlines around on top and on bottom. While some of his lines were not heavily promoted or campaigned, 14 out of the 14 horses in his first three generations are producers/sires or also performers themselves. His 3 generation pedigree includes other notables such as: TTs Riviera, Zero Mac, Roman's Straw Man and Yellers Sporty. While his 5 generation pedigree includes Doctor Jake, Docs Lynx, Three Bars, Doc Bar, Hayes Roman Cloud, Sporty O'Kings, Barbara L, Leo, Doc's J Jay, Two D Two, Amigo Ron, W-Ms Copper Dollar, and many many more! Joe also has multiple crosses to Doc Bar, Three Bars, Leo, Poco Bueno, King, Freel's Chico and others in his more extended pedigree. For some photos and more detailed information on the horses in his first 4 generations, please click on the Pedigree link toward the top of this page or visit our Reference Sires and Reference Dam pages for the first 5 generations. He is truly diversly bred and his outstanding genetic makeup shows.
Video Clips : The first two clips below are of Joe and I working on his turn-arounds/spins in 2005 and the third one is from 2004.
Below are movie clips of Joe while in early reining training as a three year old in late 2002. Please let us know if you have any problems viewing the movies! You can view more video of Joe on my youtube page.
As we note above at the top of the page, Joe has been tested and is HERDA N/N. This means he cannot ever sire a HERDA afflicted foal. Please see our Equine Genetic Diseases page for more information! We couldn't be more thrilled with the results with so many crosses to Poco Bueno and King.

Accomplishments to date:
Joe is reining trained, but due to a variety of factors over the last couple of years, we have not had the opportunity to get him into the show pen. He is extremely athletic and will be shown in performance events, including reining very soon! He will be shown NRHA and in appaloosa reining events! We also hope to add Reined/Working cow horse to his accomplishments. Joe has a huge stop and has come along quite nicely with his turn-arounds. He has a naturally low head set and throws his neck and head low into his stops, a more modern way of stopping in the NRHA (this is his natural way of going and not something he was "taught" to do).
Joe can also western pleasure very well, though honestly it is a bit boring for him. He can move very slowly, yet also in a very collected manner. He stays bit up and collected quite easily, though he certainly needs to be driven sometimes! He is definitely not "hot" and has a personality of gold. We have several video clips below and will be adding more soon.
Check out his full sister, Docs Copper Socks by following the link to the left. Copper is one awesome athlete like her brother and the genetics certainly have bred true here! Copper and Joe also have a full brother who was successfully shown in 4-H and open events as he had not been CPOd.
More from 2005:

Still one of my favorite posed pictures of Joe. Such a handsome boy! Here he is at Nationals in 2001 as young 2 year old.
As we write above, Joe is very athletic and has a huge heart and a heart of gold. He also learns extremely fast and will do whatever is asked of him. We feel truly blessed to have him in our lives and thank Carrie and Lonnie Oerman of Herman, Nebraska for breeding Joe and allowing us to purchase him in 2001.

Joe is always ready to help with the daily chores!
